Semper Fidelis: Final Fantasy XIII-2 demo
kimjong-ponponweiponweiponpon:
Just downloaded and played it and it is exactly what I expected it to be: XIII with a little extra fluff(timed button press sequences). In other words: A heap of garbage with lipstick. It still has the crappy battle system and upgrade…
It was a quick post yesterday so me clarify a few things:
Game Mechanics: Maybe game mechanic is not the appropriate word. I was referring to the removal of most stats and elemental weaknesses of monsters.
Upgrade system: The upgrade system is weaker because of the stripped down nature of the game. In older games it mattered what you unlocked because if you made smart decisions then it eased the difficulty somewhat. I never felt that way when I was unlocking skills in FFXIII. Did anyone really care that a new offensive spell was unlocked? How much did sed spell affect the outcome of the battle? It was difficult to determine due to the nature of the battle flow.
The two main issues I had with FFXIII was that there was the simplified strategy elements to battle. Sure it removed a great deal of the micromanagement aspect of battles but they went too far in my opinion. The second issue I had was how they implemented the guardian system. If they had just removed the doom element then it would have been much better.
Personally I would like to see a return to characters that have a specific class. To me it adds an element of character definition.
